I've also seen a clear plastic Chinese oboe that had all the bells and whistles as well as gold plated keywork, but the top joint bore was around 2mm too wide at the socket end and that made it impossible to play anything below low E without it bubbling. Not only that, the owner paid way over the odds for it and all they got was an expensive candlestick.
