Reading another site today about crack prevention, the article stated "use a wooden instrument case with a heavily insulated case cover..." Currently I am keeping my Loree in a Protec "Oboe Max" case, which is nylon. I've ordered a Humistat humidifier for the case. So, is a non-wood case ok, or should I be using the Loree case in terms of crack prevention? As always, thanks!

I don't think the wood part is true. It's just part of the look and elegance for the design. If it's insulated and protected well, the wood won't be as stressed to temperature changes.

Its the time outside of the case that does the damage to the oboe... if an oboe cracks inside the case that is the end result not the cause.
Keep the oboe away from large changes in humidity and temperature. Don't just humidify your case, make sure the room you practice in is at a normal humidity level.
