Bocals arrived today. CJ is right, it boils down to finding the right one *for the specific instrument*. In the case of the four on trial, the obvious choice for my cor was the Hiniker 2B12. I was surprised that even the 2B13 wasn't close.
Problems it cleaned up included sharp upper register, speaking issues low register, a too-bright C5, and weak/poorly-centered above C6. Overall dynamic range is improved, too.
