Bloom studied with Tabuteau.

I don't think that there is anything wrong with the three step articulation that Bob Sorton described, which is what John Mack teaches. That is how I learned to start notes on the oboe and it seemed fine until Killmer urged me to start notes in a different way. I don't think one is superior to the other, having done both, they both get notes started without pops and bursts, which is important.
There is slight anomosity between Mack and Killmer. I think they both respect each other as players and teachers, but they have very specific views on how to play the oboe.
