Dear All,
I'm new to this site and have retaken up the oboe after not playing for about twenty years but its good to be back in the Oboe 'OCD' world! To get myself going again I bought a cheap Buffet 4121 just to test weather I really wanted to get back into it before buying something better. I've got my embouchure going again and stamina but for the life of me anything above two ledger line D won't come out if slurred to or tongued-only way I can get the notes is by approaching chromatically and slured.
Could be I need to check venting of keys as I've tried all the other embouchure 'tricks':
Changing vowel sound (eee)
Avoiding biting and increasing air flow
Proper support
Used soft and medium reeds (Europoean 'U' scrape)
Pushing lower lip further along reed
Anyone there with experience of this instrument? Could be that I've not allowed myself enough time to get back into it!
