The version of parafilm that you want to look for is the nursery "grafting tape" variety that comes in 1/2" or 1" wide rolls and is the most convenient to apply for reed sealing purposes. It is semi-transparent rather than really clear, very similar in appearance to 3M Scotch brand magic tape.
I saw at least one listing on the eBay.uk site for this variety, although most listings there, as you pointed out, were for the green or white colour "floral" variety of parafilm. I'm fairly sure the thickness and other characteristics of all the varieties of parafilm are the same, however.
