With great sadness I report that legendary oboist Ray Still has passed away. This sad news was posted on his Facebook page. Below is the post.
"Ray Still died peacefully today in Woodstock Vermont, on his ninety-fourth birthday, surrounded by family and listening to Bach's St. Matthew Passion.
There was a short interview with Ray (recorded last October) that aired on VPR Classical this morning; the interview (a bit less than 5 minutes) is online here:
