Hi,
As you know from my various threads .... I am a serious student of reed construction.
Well, as of lately I have modified my scrape ... in that the tip - blend is more blended than before.
My Marigaux 901 Oboe seems to like this scrape very much indeed!
There is great pitch stability, warmth, flexibility, and a core tone.
Again a short tip blended into the heart more ...... lots of wood removed from heart ... faint spine and regular windows. In some regards a little similar to Marc Lifschey Plate 60, Philip Kirchner Plate 58, in the Ledet book; however my reeds have more defined windows and heart.
I wonder for those who have played/owned multiple brands of Oboes ... how have you modified/changed your scrapes/reeds to best suit your Oboe brand?
For my experience being a previous Loree player ... I know I have made many adjustments since I began playing my Marigaux 901. (including the gouge, shaper tip, staple etc.).
Looking forward to hear from you all.
Mark
