Cors aren't the loudest of instruments - sometimes I can't even hear myself playing if there's too much going on.
I had an old ring key rosewood Loree cor which was very light, but the tuning was pants as it had been converted from conservatoire to thumbplate system (would've been easier just adding a thumbplate to make it dual system) and a lot of toneholes had been bushed and the A vent was blocked off. I played a similar one which hadn't been altered and it was a nice instrument so got an idea what they should be like. The tone was much lighter compared to my Marigaux.
I used to like finishing kingwood and cocobolo Howarth XL cors as I got a chance to play test them before they got packed up and shipped out - with modern cors, you will get a more robust sound compared to antique ones depending on the make.
