so i've been using a borrowed oboe for quite some time now. a larilee that's lord knows how old. i put it away for 20 years (okay, 17) and just now am picking it back up -- i miss that way of expression really bad, and music was such a part of my life years ago and there's just a big hole where that was.
anyway, i got two oboes from one dealer and four from another yesterday to try out. rigoutat riec and delphine, fox 330, yamaha 441M, and two howarth S20s, one used, one new. i tested them out last night and decided upon one... and then today i had my husband hand each one to me blind so i could pick one solely based on what i heard and not my preconceptions. both times the new howarth S20 came out on top.
my own oboe! woohoo!!!
