Hi all,
I have a Stanesby baroque oboe made by Harry vas Dias, and I need a protective case. It came with a soft case, but I need something more secure that can house my instrument, as well as accessories.
I did call Mr. vas Dias, but he does not make custom cases. I did look on line (Amazon), but to no avail. I know there are some that are made for modern oboe, but would require me to kind of "force" fitting mine--I don't want to do that.
Any suggestions that anyone may have would be appreciated.
thanks.

I don't know if Moeck or Roessler sell Baroque oboe cases separately, or who would supply them.
A modern lightweight zip-up case should be easy to adapt if the insides are flexible, but it's knowing which case is best for this purpose.
Early Music Shop has some slotted recorder cases which are adaptable, but I don't know if the bell will fit in there.

The Stanesby by Harry that I have here is in a soft case too. I stick it in my backpack, which is heavily padded (it's a huge-capacity laptop backpack). I'm not so much worried about breaking the thing due to the soft cover (sometimes I do split up the bottom and middle joint in case I somehow stress it while attached). I'm moreso worried about exposure to the elements, as the soft case is only lightly padded and has that giant drawstring hole. I haven't taken it out in winter yet but I might elect to bundle it under my jacket if I happen to take it out in the dead of winter. Before that happens, my backpack suffices. In fact, last week, I managed to stick my modern oboe case/cover into my backpack, the Stanesby beside it in its soft case, a laptop in the sleeve, a small textbook, my 2 reed cases and reed vial in the outer pocket. I always put my modern oboe in my backpack in fact. All accessories can go in it. Even my stand somewhat (I can't zip it up then, so I normally carry the stand).
For experiment, I just tried sticking the baroque oboe into my BAM double case and I suppose it fits in various grooves and I can close the lid. I'm assuming other cases where the inside is soft molded foam and not hard wood/velvet would work. It's just that 3-key cluster you don't want to crush. Maybe an Altieri alto flute bag could work. https://www.altieribags.com/ww_flute.html

Have you tried http://case-closed.us/ccindex.html? I've heard many people on the board recommend this guy for cases when they needed one. It looks like he builds custom cases as well as modify existing ones.
