Just had my memory jogged while chatting on Facebook about an oboe d'amore solo. Not the usual suspects of Bach, R.Strauss, Mahler or Ravel, but a soap opera theme by Tony Hatch!
If you were a kid in the '70s and '80s (or a fan of the show), then you'll remember 'Crossroads' - most likely for the wobbly sets and Benny whose name became a playground insult in the early '80s.
Here's the closing credits, oboe d'amore played here by George Morgan:

Anyone else know of any other uses of oboes d'amore in popular culture?

The opinions I express are my own.
