Hi! I just posted this on the Bassoon BBoard, but I thought we could maybe keep our eyes open for this instrument. I just got this email for a colleague:
"So sad to announce that the Benson Bell bassoon, serial #24, owned by the Conservatoire de Gatineau has been stolen.
It was last seen on Friday Sept 21 in the Conservatoire de Gatineau in Quebec Canada. (near Ottawa)
Bell bassoon #24 is nicknamed "la blonde" for it's distinctive light brown/yellow colour. It also has some very distinctive key work as it was originally custom made for Rick Ranti. It was also owned by Denise Sun before being purchased by the Conservatoire de Gatineau in January 2011 for $20,000. It is a gentleman's model bassoon in a Marcus Bona case.
Whoever took this bassoon has no idea how difficult it will be to sell or even to use since it is so recognizable!
We are praying they will not trash it. It is a beautiful bassoon!
Please be on the look out for this bassoon.
Any advice you have as to how to go about finding it is also appreciated."
