Cor blimey!
I've never ever heard a cor anglais choir before - should be done far more often!
I've played oboe and soprano sax in a local group which is mainly prog rock based and has plenty of jazz influences, but they've also had string and woodwind/brass ensembles in there too for some concerts.
As there are a fair amount of oboe/cor players at the nearby University, I'll see if he might consider writing for double reeds in this block chord way as it's a fantastic effect. Orchestrally I've only know of oboes playing off-beat block chords in 'Venus' from Holst's Planets suite.
I'm playing bari sax and harp in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0yuMS1KNIZs
