That would certainly be a cost-effective way of handling your situation, assuming, of course, that you can find a supplier of blanks that are of reasonable quality. Then, all you would need is a scraping knife, a shapening stone and oil, a plaque, a cutting block, some fishskin or equivilent (sic?), and something to cut the tips with. Also, a piano or a little electronic tuner helps in getting the reed up to pitch. With some experience and some guidance from a teacher, you should be able to obtain some level of decency. If I left something out, maybe someone else can fill it in and also recommend a supplier of high quality blanks for you. Regards.
