Nice playing, but the sound people could've done with placing the microphones further away!

Humidity is the major factor in wooden instruments cracking - especially in Winter when ambient humidity levels are low and then we start breathing humid air into an instrument causing the wood to swell from the inside which increases the pressure within resulting in the outside splitting to release that built up pressure.

Wood is less affected by temperature than humidity which is the opposite to plastics which are affected more by temperature than humidity.
