Ask any oboists and they will give you their own home-spun theories. Doesn't mean that they are wrong, it just means that with so many opinions which one is correct.
Some people believe that the cracking happens because of humidity levels, or cold. Some people believe that is has something to do with vibration, while still others believe that it just happens to certain oboes. I think if you have a Loree you need to be extra careful. The crack rate of Lorees is higher I think than most oboes. I had a Rigoutat and was brutal with the thing and it never cracked, my Loree cracked within the first eight months and I was very careful with it.
My personal opinion is that the bore needs to dry out between playing. If you can divide your playing time between two instruments that would probably be best. There is nothing more frustrating than playing an oboe and having your entire high register go the way of the dodo during a performance of the Poulenc trio! You should be in good shape if you can get the bore dry between playings, and really dry.
Again this is my uninformed personal opinion.
