I always work with three different batches of cane for reeds.
I make my reeds from each batch ... they all have some differences.... and depending upon the weather .. time of year ... who knows!
Presently ... I have Weber, Ghys, and Danzig tubes. The Ghys is a bit softer than the other two and produces warm sounding reeds . the Weber a little harder and the Danzig somewhere in the middle. The Danzig reeds have more gut.
I do not like Alliaud cane .... which I found to be too hard and not enough flexible for my taste.
I have used Rigotti in the past with decent results ... although I found inconsistencies in different batches.
With the K.Ge cane .... at times the cane was too hard and the sound was edgy and lacked warmth.
