For those who don't know me, I am very quick to share/offer my opinion.
Recently I bought a recording of Riccardo Mutti conducting the Philadelphia Orchestra playing Scheherazade. Richard Woodham's playing on the big solo in the second movement is the finest oboe solo I have ever heard. To me it is indescribable and I believe if you listen to it, it will make you a believer in the "Philadelphia oboe sound". I highly recommend purchasing this recording, it comes with Fountains of Rome and I believe you can get it on iTunes for $6. Even if you don't like Muti, buy it for Woodham's heavenly oboe playing.
I am curious to find out others favorite recorded oboe solos.
