What makes a Caldwell model loree different from a standard loree? Are there any distinguishing marks on a Caldwell loree?

It has a shorter lower joint, so the tonehole placement is completely different, and in general just plays a bit sharper.

I can't remember if it has a mark, but I want to say it has a "JC" with a circle. around it.

Why is it a Caldwell in the states when it is simply a "H" model outside of the states?

Because I think I misremembered. That's right, it's got an "H" stamped on it. The de Lancie model has something else stamped.

Could be a Loree marketing tactic isn't it? (Where they claim a famous oboe player from that region adopted it when they designed it.) When i met Hansjorg Schellenberger some years ago, he claimed he pushed for that lower joint re-design (he..he...). Hmmm....

But i have to say, the re-design IS better, no longer 30 cents flat low C#s.
