I saw a clarinet lamp and thought it was kinda cool. Way better than stuffing a favoriet pet... yuck.
No, I'm for your lamp idea, and it should cost you VERY little for the conversion. The lamp-tech will have to fit a bulb-holder on the top, but because the oboe is already hollow, getting the wiring done should be a breeze.
And you can reminisce every time you turn it on!
