This is a very interesting question, Marcos.

I don't make enough reeds to really know. I hope Cooper, Jonathan and others will be able to help... assuming that they have tried different metals too.

I usually prefer silver staples "just because".... its completely psychological.... oboists are supposed to by crazy, right? [toast]

My best reeds, before discovering Chiarugi and Stevens, were always on Pisoni silver staples.... the cheapest ones in Montréal! It is possible that the texture helped bind them better. Lorée brass or silver was never very good to me.

I have never read anyone say that specific metals change the sound or behaviour in specific ways. Maybe this is more a factor in d'amore and E.H. bocals.
