Well, it looks like we may be moving to Florida! My partner has just gained a graduate position at UF. And I will be (hopefully!) taking lessons with Leslie Odom, whom I have met and was wonderful to us during our visit there last year. She will start me on my reed making journey and has a graduate student who plays short-scrape who can help me out with that side of things.
Anyway, I need to get my Marigaux serviced. Our only decent repairer here is expensive and backed up for months. I could send it to the eastern states, but the transport across Australia at the moment is slow and could see me without it for around four weeks, which I can't afford! So as we may be moving in August, I was wondering if anyone knows a decent repairer in Florida, preferably close to Gainesville.
Regards,
Rachel

I do not know of any oboe specialists in Florida, though one may exist. However, Dr. Odom may have suggestions for you. If not, Larry Mueller is in Tennessee and is an excellent repairer. Here is his website: http://www.oboistsworkshop.com/
You can ship your instrument to him once you are in Florida.

Thanks Walter. As it turns out, we may wind up at University of Illinois, and I am aware there are a few oboe stores and repairers in and around Chicago.
