A nice lecture/demo of the audition-dreaded Rossini Silken Ladder oboe solo.

And find other things by this fine oboist nearby on youtube.

OH WOW DO i AGREE WITH WHAT DIANA SAID!!!!!

There is far too much emphasis these days on double-tonging, circular breathing and general technique and not enough on musical character!!!!

Interesting to note the differences in style between Christoph Hartman and Diana Doherty on Rossini.

Thank you. Its wonderful how many new oboe resources are popping up out here.

The YTSO Oboe auditions for 2011 are worth watching, too.

Some are extremely good.

I love his musical and character analysis... so detailed as per the German way of approaching things!
=> I like him more than ever: much more than the Pasculli athelete I thought he was!

Notice how he encourages/allows taking breaths, as long as its in character!

Fantastic sound recording setup. I'm really glad it gives a fantastic opportunity to hear his Dupin Imperial! The openness of his sound could be due to the reverberation in the hall, but I have always found his tone to appear "free". It give me the impression this instrument can adapt to many different reeds and produce very different sounds.

GOSH I wish I could get one on trial! Thank you for sharing that one!
