if hand position is a problem, I suggest the following:
1. make sure your elbows are 'free' from your body
2. use a round ("C") shape when you place your hands on the instrument (a student who formerly played flute had trouble with this);
for the right hand, this would be a 'backwards C' shape.
3. make sure your fingers are in line with your forearm
happy playing!
