It seems that many people on this BBoard used their instrument for the first time in a Christmas Concert. This is true for me too: you can read the story on my blog and I invite you to leave a comment and advise us of your own blogs!

This Holiday Season will be special to me. After years of working really hard in Engineering and Graduate School and one full year in a good job, I finally get to take care of the initial purpose of it all: playing music seriously again!
I don't care if you are Christian, Neo-Pagan, Jewish, Hindu, Toltec, Muslim, Shinto, Zoroastrian, Shamanistic, Buddhist or anything else, this season speaks to our sense that there is more to our existence here on Earth than the daily grind. Isn't music the deepest expression of that sense? Although I enjoy a wide variety of instruments, for me, the oboe feels like the voice of my soul.
So with my week off between the holidays, and the new gear my job allowed me to buy, I intend to celebrate by making a few recordings (with my "electronic orchestra") and possibly post a few things on You-Tube...... hopefully I won't embarrass myself too much after all the postings since last summer!
At any rate, I wish you all a fabulous Yuletide. All the best with your family and friends, or if you don't have any to distract you from music, let the sound of your oboes fill your hearts and those of others too!
