Good points about the midi.
I've been using it so long my original gear only allowed recording, no editing....
It did allow slower recording and faster playback which saved me when doing keyboard parts.
I think your point about tempo control is very important.
Players can adjust for practice tempo and increase as the solo part matures.
Its really important to avoid the temptation to play up to speed right away.
Those playing mistakes become learned because of that and are really hard to fix.
Really hard.
