This is essentially a new twist on "Music Minus One!" I have a CD of that and keep forgetting to use it!
Essentially, working alone and working with others are a world apart and both are necessary. Having these techno aids helps to bridge the gap.
In the 1990s (I hope it still exists) during my military work, there was a system called "Vivace" that consisted of a software and a special pedal hook up to the computer. It was computerized accompaniment that could be set for tempo, tuning and volume while letting you modify these while playing (through the pedal). Collections of available tunes (sonatas, concertos etc.) were available for purchase.
I'm just scanning a bunch of piano parts into Finale and getting it to playback through my digital piano (for better sound quality than the computer). This way, I can change the musicality considerations, though not while playing.
