I just leave my tube cane in a bag - box - jar - whatever; I haven't noticed any changes in the cane. I had a large quantity of cane I used over ten years stored in a cardboard box in the closet. Dry in the winter - more humid the summer. The cane was fine and aged well and was quite consistent.
