Private oboe lessons in Northern VA
Author: kbshahin

My 11-year-old daughter is in her second year of playing oboe and she could really use a private teacher. Her band teacher doesn't specifically know oboe and I am a flute player, so we're of limited help to her. If anyone knows of a teacher who would be willing to work with her, please let me know.

Thanks!

Kim

I have one in Westminster, MD. Sorry I don't know one in Virginia. Call the closest university and ask them for advice. Or. check with your music store. My original one was from the music store, but she was a flute player FIRST then an oboist so I left her and went to an OBOE player (who also plays piano). The one I have now came highly recommended by the staff at McDaniel College.

Good for you for looking for lessons for your daughter while she is still in her "formative" stage of playing! It's the best thing you could do for her, musically.

A quick Google search on the terms "oboe Northern Virginia" brought up the following sites. There seem to be abundant choices for you.

I'd recommend Jim Moseley, 703-598-1952.

Hello, I am an Oboist at the George Mason University Symphonic Orchestra, and am currently a Music Major at George Mason University, I would love to teach your daughter! I am working towards being an instructor at Potomac Academy as well, but I am definitely up to teach! I understand she has switched off another instrument, and I know how scary that can be. But I will definitely try to teach her all I can and help her sound grow as well as her confidence!
I do not prefer to post my number on the wed, but I will be more than happy to talk more if you are interested. Contact me at sramani@gmu.edu
