Normally I don't put concert advertising here, but the London Symphony Orchestra is offering a 20% discount to people who read the mailing lists & BBoard, so I'm passing this along:

We wondered if you might be able to advertise our concert on your
website, and we can also offer a 20% discount to your customers if they

Strauss wrote his /Duett-Concertino /in 1947, in old age but with
childlike wonder still intact. The LSO's Rachel Gough, star bassoonist
of the night, describes the journey the clarinet and bassoon take
through the music:
*/"The clarinet plays a Princess, and then a dancing bear -- that's me
-- comes galumphing into the picture and frightens her. So I will be
crashing into Andrew Marriner's beautiful line! Strauss's idea was that
the Princess and the bear dance together and the bear is transformed
into a Prince. Andrew and I have worked together for years but there
will always be surprises, and that's what makes the music come to life."/*
Accompanying Strauss's /Duett-Concertino/ is Rodion Schedrin's zesty
Concerto for Orchestra No 1 and the irrepressible Symphony No 5 by
Gustav Mahler. The evening promises a wonderful mixture of music-making.
