Try putting a small hygrometer in the case and see where your humidity level is. I was never able to keep a good level with a dampit - switched to the humistat, which sits in the reed case well.

Those who do use the dampit, where in the case do you keep it (inside the oboe barrel or just loose in the case.) I had a teacher once that swore by keeping it loose in the case to humidify the outer wood as the inside got plenty of spit moisure already.
