With my Marigaux 2001 oboes I chose either a Chudnow (not the all-metal ones, but the ones with the traditional corks) or a Stevens pro 2 staple. They both have a more open oval. (I live at high altitude, and perhaps my need for a more open reed in the high, dry air made the larger opening especially beneficial.)

In response to your query about having 2 different brands of oboe, I would suggest that if you are planning on a lot of professional playing, it is most useful to have two instruments which are very much alike. However, I did have two differing ones, a Marigaux and a Laubin, for awhile -- mainly because I could not give up the special attributes of either of them.
