I know that there are people out there who do wonderful jobs overhauling oboes and doing basic oboe maintenance, but I was wondering if anyone new anything about Gary Armstrong in Toronto. I'm not looking to solicit any particular place or repairman, I'm just simply asking because I don't live too far from there so it would be easy for me to drop off my oboe and pick it up. I don't think I need a complete overhaul at this time, just basic cleaning, oiling, but still, you have to have a repair person who is knowledgable enough to not turn the screws too tight, for example, and can put proper tension on the springs, and so forth. I'm also not sure if I agree or disagree with oiling the bore.
