Hi Everyone
it's been a while since I last posted, but I really wanted to share the experience of a Prom concert I did with my orchestra last Wednesday. We performed the above Strauss work, and I found myself literally fighting back tears of joy to be so fortunate as to be in the middle of such an incredible orchestral texture.
I am including the I-player link which is freely available on the BBC Proms website, though only for another 3 or 4 days. It's the 2nd half of Proms 55. I will remember this concert for some years to come. I hope you all enjoy it just as much as I did. There are lots of oboe and oboe d'amore solos, though not so many cor solos! Sorry! The ending packs such an exhilarating punch, especially if you love celestial french horn writing.

Very best wishes to one and all. I'm just about to fly off to Geneva to start a week's driving holiday in the Alps. Wonderful! And what better than Richard Strauss to put one in the mood for it!!!
James
