Mayer is a great oboist and does really a very nice job also on the cor anglais.
The de Vries recording I find a bit uninspired and with quite slow tempi. I have to say very interesting with a lot of Italian passion and rubato is the Baccini recording. It is probably my favourite although it is quite different to a Mayer reading of the piece.
I was hoping that there are additional Italian interpretations on this piece but havent seen anything....
