 Re: singing and breath support

I found that at a certain point in my professional oboe development I had to forgo the singing because of the vibrato. The vocal vibrato was infiltrating my oboe vibrato, and my oboe vibrato only became natural again and easy to control after I gave up the singing. I also found that my natural breath support for oboe was way too strong for my singing, causing me to run out of air vocally.

I have known oboists who also sing professionally (in a professional church choir), however, encountering no apparent difficulty.
