Hello!
I have a Hans Kreul Miraphone full conservatory oboe with a ruined case. I need a new case, and I'd like to put it into a nice french-style case, but the keys protrude more and are larger than average (Loree or Fox).
Does any one have any suggestions?
If there aren't any pre-made cases that will fit my oboe, then I'll get it custom made with Northwind Cases. I'm a little impatient, but those are BEAUTIFUL cases and are worth the wait... Any help is appreciated!
Thank you,
Claudia

I can't say for sure, but I've seen some protec cases recently which have a lot of squishy padding, giving some flexibility to the size of the instrument.

It is entirely possible to make one with a pre-bought shell, stretchy velvet and some decent quality foam such as plastazote. You can use upholstery foam but it won't last as long. Might be an option if your extra keys defeat all the current manufacturers.

I agree with CJWright; the pro-tec cases are roomy -- and affordable. They aren't the 'lozenge' classy look of a Loree case, but I'm happy with the protection mine (a double Eng horn/oboe case) affords.

The protec case fits our Gordet well. It is not too tight or loose and has room to carry extra reeds, pencils, swab and other extras too. I'm pleased with the way our Gordets fit in the protect cases. Both my son and I each have one.

Thank you for all of your suggestions!
I did contact Jim at Northwind Cases, and he sent one right away. It fit great! I think that for traveling far, I will go with a ProTec case, just because its more rugged and cushioned.
Thanks for the help!
