Probably your oboe needs servicing and adjustment..my experience with the forked F on Royals is that they are very solid, better than the regular Loree's due to the deeper toneholes...tight screws are not unusual on new oboes and are better than loose ones! What you should avoid is using the little jewelry screwdriver that comes with the instrument to try to force the issue. You might hurt yourself, or the oboe, or just strip the screwhead. What you need is a very snugly fitting screwdriver with a nice handle that gives you a better grip for increased torque. I recommend the following screwdriver for the major adjusting screws; it has worked well for me:
WIHA 26025 Precision Slotted 2.5(3/32) X 50mm
