Ah summer! Your travails reminded me of one of my two summer bands. Trying to play "In the Mood", no tenor sax that rehearsal but the flutes and I were stuck with the piano parts since it was more of a big band arrangement. Rather than have all that silence a first clarinet and I slogged through the tenor sax solos! What fun! 18 concerts in 8 weeks - kind of like "Mash" only with music!
