Haha, I can imagine the clicking came as quite a surprise!

And I totally agree about rhythm. I'm not a huge fan of click tracks, because I think they can easily become a crutch; however, in the case of this one excerpt, because there are so many specific tempo changes marked in such a short time, my thinking is that it could be useful to get a feel for the ratios of tempos.
