I have a drawer full of wonderful ligatures. That is why I couldn't have been more surprised when I broke my Vandoren (black) M/O ligature and then sat staring at it wondering how I was going to get through rehearsal. It only occurred to me after I no longer had the M/O available to me how much I had come to rely on it. Yes, there are others in my arsenal that I have found to be a bit better on some fronts, but for ease of use, compactness, and sonic results I have not found any other ligature that does all these things so well.
And yes, I was on the phone to Woodwind Brasswind so fast it made my wife's head spin. I will have a replacement in only a few days and I don't know if I'll be able to stand the wait.
On a related note, I took the opportunity to order the "Masters Version Only" model (yes the ligature designed specifically for the Masters Mouthpiece now has a version even more specifically designed for the Masters (and it costs $10 more). So I throw myself on the sword to answer another burning Board question. Is there really anything different about this one?
Only time will tell.
