 Writing out serial numbers
Author: jdbassplayer

Hello all,
I have a question about serial numbers. It seems like whenever somebody (myself included) writes about an instrument online it is usually written like this: "I have a clarinet with the serial number 30****..." My question is what danger is there in writing out the full serial number? Is this just something everyone does without thinking about or is there a good reason for it? I mean it's not like a credit card number or social security number. Nobody's going to steal your identity based off what clarinet you play. Perhaps there is something obvious I am missing.
All opinions are appreciated!
