Insurance fraudsters could make use of existing full serial numbers claiming that an instrument with a specific published serial number is theirs or one they've had stolen or lost.

The only clarinet I've published the full serial number on here was my 1965 B&H Series 2-20 which was stolen while I was at college back in 1989 - the serial number on that is 234701.
