Interesting that the partially mixed 'dough' of powder and sulphur looks like those 'marble' ebonitevmouthpieces. I'm sure there's more to it though.

I assume the marbling is done during the extruding stage using different colour ebonite sheets fed into the auger as the milling process near the start is getting the mixture all uniform.
While ebonite is hard natural rubber, is there a silicone rubber version of ebonite (hard silicone rubber) with similar if not better properties? Only it could be a problem when it comes to the usual adhesives (epoxy or contact adhesive) used to bond various parts and tenon corks to woodwind bodies.
