 a bone-dry clarinet plays better

The temeprature here in Paris is a freakish 35° C (95° F). When I put my clarinet away after a practice session, its bore is bone-dry....and it has played better. Moral of the story: swab your instrument out several times during a practice session and not just when you put it back in its case. It will play better. (under normal conditions, its bore gets very wet).
