Hey all! I have a friend who recently purchased an Armstrong USA 4001 clarinet just to play around with but Ive been having difficulty tracking down the manufacture date and information. Ive looked using google and I’ve tried searching the forums here but no luck. From what Ive found, you should be able to get the date based on the prefix in the serial number but I can’t seem to find the one I have in any database, and most of the information Ive found is for flutes, and I don’t know if they use the same system. The serial number is 44 75873, thanks!

Id looked at that document and I’d wondered if that’s maybe what could be inferred? It seems to be that the information may only be applicable to flutes and piccolos and not the clarinets, but I’m not sure

CLARINETS
SAXOPHONES
Note: From 1987 on, the two-digit prefix number plus 50 will give you the year of manufacture on all
Since the heading is "clarinets saxophones", I assume the text below applies to those.
