never could find them soft enough for me till some older softer sizes showed up up on close-out on internet. 9.99$ a box of 5 with 2004 date on box! seasoned enough to be sure!. they play great! all my good mpcs love them. think i will stock up while they last . these play and feel exactly like vandoren blue box to me. which to me is a good think on bass clarinet

I've bought lots of Gonzales bass clarinet/tenor sax reeds (they are identical) for the same reason, affordability - but I find them generally pretty soft and lacking in spine, so I only get the harder strengths, 4-1/2 and 4-3/4. Those work well on my mouthpieces.

dave if you need gonzales reeds for bass clarinet now-the harder strengths like 4-4.5 are also on close out for 9.99$ box of 5 on ebay where i got mine
