Hi everyone, I was at the TMEA convention and I stumbled upon a mouthpiece that I really like. It was really colorful and has such an ease of projection, but I really don’t know much about it or the maker other than he did some work for Anthony Gigliotti. The name of the mouthpiece is by Dong Jin Kim. The people at the booth were very kind and helpful, but I didn’t ask too many questions other than if the mouthpiece was refaced by him which it was. Any information on the mouthpiece and or the maker will be a great help thank you!

He was a student of Gigliotti and I *think* (but don't know for sure) that he went back to China after spending several years here in the Philadelphia area after he graduated Curtis. I didn't know him personally, but only by reputation and by Gigliotti's referring to him often. Interesting that his name was on the mouthpiece. I knew he did excellent work on facings and interiors of mouthpieces. I was never aware that he was making mouthpieces under his own name.

I was told that he was Korean and returned home after a time. He had a good reputation. Those mouthpieces that I have seen that he worked on had very small logographic style characters rather than English lettering. These were usually at the base may the side of the table.

One of the people from the booth said that Dong Jin Kim was his teacher and that he was surprised that I even knew of him. I had only briefly remembered his name from somewhere which is what sparked my curiosity in the mouthpieces. I'm attaching one of the pictures i have that i took at TMEA.

Interesting. Do you know what the person's name is?

I think that's right. He was Korean, not Chinese.

I do not! But if it helps, the booth was from Duo Music! Should have been more proactive and written down his name.
