I was looking to see if there were any concerts that would be good to go to, when I saw on Anthony McGill's website that there was a concert with a long looking program. When I looked for the details, I saw that is was seven pieces total with discounts for educators, first responders, etc. Sadly, since I do not live in Missouri, I cannot go, but I want to let anyone who can know.
I want to make it clear that this is not an advertisement. I do not have any connection to the McGill/McHale trio, the 1900 building, or Friends of the Chamber Music Kansas City.
By the way, this concert is on mozart's birthday.

McGill seems a masterful artist. He played the Nielsen Concerto in a way that I actually enjoyed, which I heard in a radio broadcast once while driving. As a listener that piece is problematic for me, but McGill found a way to emotionally connect the sections in a way that worked, instead of the jumble of fragments I usually hear. It's one of those pieces that needs help from the performers. The few performances by McGill of other music that I've heard were also excellent.
